Racers, Etc. | Dagupan City Fiesta Auto Show 2013

JrMlz

Dagupan City has started its fiesta celebration last week, and among the events slated for the first week was the Dagupan City Fiesta Auto Show 2013. The car show was held last December 4 and 5 at the city plaza.

I went there twice on both days, and was able to take photos of the cars on display. There were classic/vintage cars, those with crazy-loud audio setups, ones with custom body kits, hulking trucks, and a few racers.

Thanks to my years of collecting Top Gear Philippines magazines, I had ideas on how to shoot cars. I shot with my Panasonic Lumix LX5.

Over the past few days, I’ve posted some my photos of the Classics, Off-Roaders and Sound Blasters in the show. Here today I want to show the rest of the photos. There are cars with setup for racing, while others are just flaunting their body kits. Check ’em…

This is Not a Tip. This is a Story About an Asshole.

franklyrebekah

Today I am writing my blog from my parent’s house.  Happy Franksgiving week, everyone!

Generally speaking when I write blogs about people, I either don’t know their names or else I change them to save them from embarrassment.  This is the kind of person that I am.  Following the events of this past Thursday, however, I have decided that I am not vindictive enough and that this is a character trait that I must try and develop.  If people act like assholes, after all, they should be called out and called out by (first) name!  (Clearly I am in the very early stages of vindictive-development.)  Also, this dude was such an incredible shithead that I think I would be doing the world a disservice by not calling him out.  So, here goes.  Let us all hope that he doesn’t sue me for libel* (he’s a lawyer, god help us all).

War Signs

War Signs

Game Type: SkillW

Supplies:

  • Just yourselves

Instructions

Sit in a circle with either a bottle (or two or three) and some shot glasses in the middle or each person has their own drink.
Each person picks a ‘war sign’ which can basically be any signal or sound (decide which before you start). E.g.. wiggling your hands in the air or calling bee-baa bee-baa etc. Each round you pick new signs.
Run through them just once and then start with one person who does their own signal and then does someone else’s who has to carry on by doing theirs, then another person’s.
When someone screws up like they don’t realize it’s their turn or uses the wrong signal (happens the second/third time around) then they drink.
It’s really great if you add general drinking game rules like thumb-master, pointing, spillage, slidage etc.

Paper Bag Pickup

Paper Bag Pickup

Game Type: SkillP

Supplies:

  • Drinks
  • Paper grocery bag
  • Scissors

Instructions

Place the bag open on the floor. Each person then tries to pick it up with his or her teeth and without kneeling/laying/etc. (must stay on feet). If a player cannot pick up the bag, he or she must drink. After each person takes a turn, a new round begins and an inch or two of the sack is cut off of the top making it shorter. Continue until nothing is left of the bag

Chair Olympics

Chair Olympics

Game Type: SkillC

Supplies:

  • A Couple of Old Office Chairs
  • Paved Hill or Sidewalk

Instructions

The game is an exciting performance to enjoy whether or not you are involved. The object is for two opponents to race down a hill on an office chair. The racers begin at the top of the hill, beer in hand. The finish line is established by a sober competitor for the whole race. The race begins by both racers cracking their beers and pushing themselves down the hill while drinking. Cheap stiffarms and violent thrashing towards your opponent are highly encouraged. Anything for you to come down the hill first with an empty beer. The loser must wait at the finish line with a nice amount of beer and drink until the next race is won. Usually bystanders are likely to join and cheer on. The winner is the bruised-up lush probably flailing a dismantled office chair in the air. College campuses are a must for this game. (Make sure you have traffic lookouts at the top and bottom of the hill!!!)

Catch

Catch

Game Type: SkillC

Supplies:

  • A ball
  • Drinks
  • Large group of people

Instructions

Get a large mixed group together and go off to some grassy spot. Take a ball or suchlike and as much hooch as you can carry between you. Form a vague largish circle and stick the booze in the middle, then just throw the ball around (fake throws, misdirection, etc OK) until either

  • Someone fails to catch it or
  • Someone throws the ball in a completely crap direction.

The person deemed to have perpetrated (a) or (b) then has to stand still and time the rest of the group for 20 seconds while they run into the middle and drink as much as they can in the time available. The advantage of this game is that people who have some eye-hand coordination or who are just unsportingly sober get brought down to the level of the rest of the group.

You can adapt the rules to any kind of ball game (baseball, cricket etc), but we found that it’s best to stick to games which can successfully be played while everyone’s completely smashed.
